Birbal

Akbar asked Birbal to say something that would make him happy when he is sad..and sad when he is happy....Birbal said 'This time will pass'

Irony of largest democracy

I have been thinking about this issue for quite long but this empty time during a train journey gives me the opportunity. Although the view outside is good from time to time as I get to see huge wind mills but otherwise it’s the same as my India but at a higher speed.
I wonder how powerful some local leaders in India have become that even the most influential of businessmen, sports persons and actors are nothing in front of them. When even these people do not seem to have a right to freedom of expression then what can we say about a billion other people of India.
Sachin tendulkar was targeted for giving his opinion on the issue of Marathi manoos and said that for him he is an Indian first and then a Maharashtrian. And that he thinks Maharashtra is for all India. He was brutally insulted in media by saying that he has no right to speak on these issues. They even said that even sachin has done nothing for the country and that is why he should not interfere in the issues dealing with the state or the country.
Very recently, Shahrukh and Aamir gave their opinion on the inclusion of Pakistani players in the IPL and even they were shut up very easily by these so called leaders. Not only they were not to speak but shahrukh had to suffer some consequences as the posters of his films were torn and it has been said that his films won’t be allowed in some districts of Maharashtra. And even Mukesh Ambani, who must have given large amounts to these political parties for their various expenses was asked to shut up.
I feel that no one has any worth in front of these political leaders and they have become so powerful that they have become like local dictators. And, there are hundreds of them, in every state, in every district or in every town or village. They just need to create an issue (they do not convert problems into issues albeit they create issues which in turn cause problems). You want to become a leader: just have contacts with some existing leader (so that police can not dare touch you), hire some people (multitudes available in India because of unemployment as this is easy money or the urge to choose politics as an employment or to become powerful in their small localities), create an issue, resort to some sort of vandalism, harm somebody or if the issue created is not related to somebody or some community, damage the public property and the rest is done by media. People like Raj Thackery become big leaders overnight.
State politics has become worse, at present they say that they are doing this for the welfare of their state residents and then the next generation of such leaders will come and they will start looking at the ‘welfare’ of their districts and so on. A wild imagination of some leader might lead to the demand of a separate country as well. Everybody wants new states to be created; they argue that smaller states will function well. But is this their motivation or wanting to become rulers of those states is their motivation. First they are fighting for smaller states and when they will see that they can have a bigger state for themselves they will start fighting for larger. Greed of the people will never stop but it must be controlled somehow else we might be moving towards the old times of kings fighting battles with each other and armies getting killed for nothing.

Bollywood....

Watching 3 idiots and the promos of Kartik calling Kartik, I feel that bollywood has come a long way from only masala movies. We now have some good, I mean very good, film makers in the industry now. Or, we should say they have developed themselves as real film makers.
Aamir Khan has come a long way and it is clearly apparent that he puts a lot of efforts in making his movies. Watching 3 idiots made me realize that they have a put a lot of effort in designing the characters and the screenplay. Aamir Khan has really made himself very much different from each and everyone. Kudos to him for making movies like Taare zameen par, 3 idiots and ghazini(not so much for me). Making such movies takes a lot of time which he takes but such movies are worth a wait.
Farhan Akhtar is another film maker whom I really admire. He has done some of the best works. Rock On, Dil chahta hai, Lakshya, Luck By chance and Don2(again, not so much, but I assume this one is also very good because it comes from Farhan :)). He also makes such awesome movies and thus he needs time for making them. Although he is the son of a Stupid(My opinion!) father but he seems to be a great man in himself, as I get from 'Oye its Friday'. He has done it all; acting, singing, writing, directing and may be others and has done wonders in all.
Now, we come to another file maker, discussion on whose films always brings contradicting opinions. Karan Johar also makes good enough films( I dont give a damn if others don't agree but I will always watch films like K3G :P), Actually his films are very good for certain type of audience. And for his audience his films are a treat.
Then there have been some other once in a blue moon great movies like DevD, which will always be there. But bollywood is changing a lot where film makers and even actors like Shahrukh Khan put a lot of efforts in making the movies. Finally, they are not rated for the number of movies they make in a year.
May be other film makers and actors will shift to something awesome and will have more number of great movies every year.

Lesson of a lifetime.......

You always have two choices!!!

A small story..
Jerry is the manager of a restaurant. He is always in a good mood. When someone would ask him how he was doing, he would always reply:
If I were any better I would be twins..
Many of the waiters changed jobs when he quit jobs so they could follow him around from restaurant to restaurant. Why??
Because Jerry was a natural motivator.
If an employee was having a bad day, Jerry was always there, telling him how to look on the positive side of the situation.

Seeing this style really made me curious, so one day I went up to Jerry and asked him:"I don't get it! No one can be a positive person all of the time. How do you do it?"
Jerry replied, "Each morning I wake up and say to myself, I have two choices today. I can choose to be in a good mood or I can choose to be in a bad mood. I always choose to be in a good mood. Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be victim or I can choose to learn from it. I always choose to learn from it. Every time someone comes to me complaining, I can choose to accept their complaining or I can point out the positive side of life. I always choose the positive side of life."

"But it's not always that easy,” I protested.

"Yes it is," Jerry said. "Life is all about choices. When you cut away all the junk every situation is a choice. You choose how you react to situations.
You choose how people will affect your mood.
You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood.
It's your choice how you live your life."

Several years later,I heard that Jerry accidentally did something you are never supposed to do in the restaurant business. He left the back door of his restaurant open. And then in the morning, he was robbed by three armed men. While Jerry was trying to open the safe box, his hand, shaking from nervousness, slipped off the combination. The robbers panicked and shot him. Luckily, Jerry was found quickly and rushed to the hospital. After 18 hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, Jerry was released from the hospital with fragments of the bullets still in his body.…

I saw Jerry about six months after the accident. When I asked him how he was, he replied, "If I were any better, I'd be twins. Want to see my scars?"

I declined to see his wounds, but did ask him what had gone through his mind as the robbery took place.

"The first thing that went through my mind was that I should have locked the back door," Jerry replied. "Then, after they shot me, as I lay on the floor, I remembered that I had two choices: I could choose to live or could choose to die. I chose to live." Jerry continued, "The paramedics were great. They kept telling me I was going to be fine. But when they wheeled me into the Emergency Room and I saw the expression on the faces of the doctors and nurses, I got really scared. In their eyes, I read
‘He's a dead man’. I knew I needed to take action."

"What did you do?" I asked.

"Well, there was a big nurse shouting questions at me," said Jerry. "She asked if I was allergic to anything." 'Yes,' to bullets, I replied. Over their laughter, I told them: “I am choosing to live. Please operate on me as if I am alive, not dead.” Jerry lived thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his amazing attitude.

I learned from him that every day you have the choice to either enjoy your life or to hate it. The only thing that is truly yours - that no one can control or take from you – is your attitude,so if you can take care of that, everything else in life becomes much easier.
